About
The Heritage Monitoring project (HEMO) is an interactive platform
designed to offer accessible and detailed information about
Ukraine’s archaeological heritage preservation and exhibition. It
enables users to explore cultural and historical artifacts through
comprehensive descriptions, photos, videos, and 3D models. The
platform supports multilingual functionality, catering to a global
audience, and integrates advanced technologies like augmented
reality, providing users with an immersive and engaging experience.
The primary goal is to preserve and promote Ukraine’s rich heritage,
making this platform a crucial tool for both educational and
research purposes.

Challenge
The main challenge was creating a solution that would make it easy
for a museum or any institution to showcase archaeological relics.
The system needed to support large 3D models with fast rendering,
manage multimedia content efficiently, deploy a comprehensive
role-based permissions policy, and enhance search capabilities based
on artifact parameters.

Solution
Interactive 3D Viewing
The platform offers an immersive 3D experience, allowing users to
explore artifacts in detail. They can rotate, zoom, and examine
high-resolution 3D models to understand cultural and historical
objects better.

Augmented Reality Integration
This feature brings artifacts to life by integrating 3D models into
AR environments on mobile devices. Users can place the antiquities
in their physical space, enabling a unique and engaging way to
interact with historical objects.
User Role Management
The system includes defined roles, such as Admin and Content
Manager, to ensure secure and efficient artifact management. A
moderation process was implemented to maintain quality by requiring
admin approval before publishing remains.

Advanced Search Functionality
The platform features a powerful search engine that indexes
artifacts along with their descriptions. Users can perform
text-based searches and apply multiple filters, such as age, region,
and type, to find specific items. This functionality ensures a
seamless and efficient exploration experience for users.

Qualium helped us bring VR and XR technologies to the field of cultural heritage of Ukraine. The team quickly implemented a solution in Tustan for a realistic VR journey through a medieval cliffside fortress, which does not exist today. For HeMo, we collaborated to create a wonderful XR platform for a beautiful presentation of museum artifacts in 3D. The Qualium team is wonderful, technologically advanced, comfortable in cooperation and fully organized according to the necessary roles and competencies, thank you!
