Gamers and tech geeks from around the world are gathering in Cologne, Germany, this week for Europe’s largest video games and entertainment convention.
Gamescom is a trade fair for video games held annually at the Koelnmesse in Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is organized by the Federal Association of Interactive Entertainment Software. It is used by many video game developers to show off their upcoming games and game-related hardware.
Gamescom is the World’s largest games event with 275,000 visitors, more than 5,000 journalists and 557 exhibitors from 39 countries attending the show in its third year. It was first held from 19 to 23 August 2009.
This year the fourth annual Gamescom, running from Aug. 15 to 19, showcases the latest computer and video games from major developers such as Sony and Electronic Arts. Organizers are expecting more than 250,000 visitors.
