How to Get to Ukraine?
It is quite easy to get to our country: there are plenty of direct flights from many world’s cities to Kyiv – Ukraine’s capital. Having flown to Ukraine’s capital, you may arrive at Kharkiv by train or by plane. There are many regular Kyiv-Kharkiv flights; you may also avail of a well-developed railroad service.

Two international airports, both located near Kyiv – Boryspil and Zhuliany – are the most reasonable points to fly to Ukraine. Other international airports that support direct international flights are situated in Kharkiv, Lviv, Odesa, Dnipro and other cities. There are many regular flights a day to Budapest, Frankfurt, London, Milan, Munich, Oslo, Prague, Rome, Vienna, Warsaw, and Istanbul, as well as several flights a day of Austrian AUA, CSA Czech Airlines, LOT, Lufthansa, Alitalia, Air France, British Airways, KLM.
Wizzair, Pegasus, and AirBaltic are popular low-cost airlines. As for the internal flights, it is offered by Ukraine International Airlines. Some airlines (Austrian Airlines, LOT, Lufthansa, Pegasus etc.) also provide direct flights to large Ukrainian cities like Kharkiv, Dnipro, and Lviv.
You can also travel to Ukraine by train or by bus, which is available from many European cities. For traveling across the country, a train is a good solution, since it is usually faster, cheaper and more comfortable than a bus. You can book tickets online here.
It is better to make a reservation for a room beforehand; however, you will be able to find accommodations on the spot. You can book the room via Booking.com, Hotels.com and Airbnb services.
Will I Feel Comfortable?
The citizens of the majority of world’s countries can cross Ukrainian borders without any problems. All European Union citizens can enter Ukraine without a visa and stay up to 90 days within any 180-day period. Besides, other 33 world’s countries are subject to this rule, including the USA, Canada, Japan, Montenegro, Norway, Switzerland and many others. Therefore, you just need a valid passport to enter Ukraine – no perplexed formalities with visas and other documents.
Cash-free payments with MasterCard, Visa, and Maestro cards are accepted almost everywhere here, including restaurants, shops etc. However, having some cash with you won’t hurt, since some businesses accept only cash, including public transport, some small shops and facilities etc., which you may find useful.
Transportation issues? No way! Kharkiv underground is the fastest way to move through the city. All the important signs (the names of the stations and streets) are transcribed to English, so you won’t get lost. Uber taxi is working in Ukraine’s large cities – Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odesa, Lviv and Dnipro. There are also some other similar taxi services, available to be booked from a mobile app – OnTaxi, Uklon, Etaximo and some others.
Mobile telephony and Internet services are one of the cheapest in the world while offering a good quality of communication. Free Wi-Fi is available at almost any café, shop or pub. The 3G mobile internet is available throughout the country, offered by all main mobile operators. By the way, in order to buy a local sim card, you don’t need to provide any documents.

What to See?
Kharkiv, the second largest Ukrainian city, has been famous for its scientific and cultural background. This is the place where one of the oldest universities of Eastern Europe – Karazin University – was founded in 1805. The first USSR atom disintegration was performed here. Today the city is a vibrant and dynamic place with a good infrastructure, lots of interesting places, and friendly and smart people who strive for the development of their native city and country. Many successful startups have been set up here.
Besides Kharkiv, many Ukrainian cities and places are rooted in ancient times, thus being endowed with the authentic culture and rich history. Pearl of the Black Sea Odesa, beautiful European architecture of Lviv, picturesque Carpathian hills, mysterial ancient lands of Kamianets-Podilskyi, the cradle of Slavic culture Kyiv and many other Ukrainian cities and villages are of great interest for tourists.
